1st May, Friday: Padstow Obby Oss
Traditional Cornish May Day Celebrations.
2nd + 3rd May, weekend: Giant Bolster Weekend, St. Agnes
This is the annual celebrations of St. Agnes, charting the rise and fall of Bolster the Giant who used to live in the area. There are lantern processions, street theatre and other activities.
3rd + 4th May, Sunday-Monday: Spring Food Fair at Godolphin
Locally produced food presented in the beautiful surroundings of Godolphin. All tickets are £2.00 per person.
7th to 16th May: Daphne du Maurier Festival
This is the annual festival held in Fowey that celebrates the author's life and works. There will be talks, plays and guided walks.
8th May, Friday: Helston Flora Day
Traditional Cornish May Day Celebrations including the famous 'Furry Dance'.
14th May to 5th Sept: Open Days at the Cold War Bunkers
This is a chance to see inside the Veryan Preserved Royal Observer Corps post. It has been restored by members of the Royal Observer Corps Association. Selected dates from 14th May to 5th September. Entry is free but donations are gratefully accepted. Booking is essential.
22nd to 25th May, Bank Holiday weekend: Run to the Sun Festival
This is the annual Custom Car and VW festival that is held in Newquay over three days.
Tickets cost £81.00 per adult and £41.00 per child for the three days.
22nd to 31st May: Falmouth River Festival
If you're interested in the environment, the arts or activities on the water, there's something in the festival for you.
24th to 13th Sept: Open Days at Gribbin Daymark in Fowey
This is a chance for the public to allow them to experience the fantastic views from the top of this 84ft tower near the Fowey Estuary. Selected dates from 24th May to 13th September 2009. Tickets cost 50p per person.
30th + 31st May, weekend: Food and Craft Fair at Trelissick Garden
A chance to sample and buy some of Cornwall's best food and crafts. A charge of £3.50 will be made per car for parking to non national trust members.
June
4th to 6th June: Royal Cornwall Show
This is a three day event that showcases the best that Cornwall has to offer in farming, food, livestock and much more. Held at the Royal Cornwall Show Ground in Wadebridge. Tickets cost £13.00 per adult and £6.50 per child.
12th to 14th June, weekend: Falmouth Shout, Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival
On the Quays and in the pubs along Falmouth's waterfront hear the songs of a bygone age when sailing clippers ruled the waves. Most venues are free.
13th June, Saturday: Redruth Murdoch Day
This is the annual celebration in Redruth.
20th to 28th June: Polperro Festival and Lights
This is the annual celebration in Polperro which includes dances, art and music.
22nd to 28th June: Golowan Festival and Mazey Day
This is the annual celebration in Penzance of Golowan which is Cornish for midsummer or the Feast of St. John. It is one of Cornwall's largest art festivals which includes street theatre and story telling. The week culminates in Mazey day which is Cornish for dazed and confused!
29th June, Monday: Bluebells and Pasties on the Quay
Enjoy a guided walk through Tremayne Woods on the Helford River and then a pasty on Tremayne Quay. 10.30am Tickets cost £6.00 per person and includes a pasty and a drink. Booking is essential.
July
4th July to 5th Sept: Art Exhibition at Falmouth Art Gallery
John Dyer is the artist in residence as part of the Darwin 200 exhibition. Free entry to the Gallery.
13th July, Monday: Stithians Show
Cornish Agricultural Show. Tickets cost £8.00 per adult and £2.00 per child. Approximate prices for 2009.
26th July to 1st Aug: Padstow Carnival Week
A carnival celebration with music, quizzes and other activities.
29th July, Wednesday: Culdrose Air Day
The Culdrose Air Day is always a highlight of the aviation year, and 2009 promises to be no exception as Naval Aviation's 100th year is celebrated in one of Europe's largest Naval Air Stations.
